The Girl in the Window on Steam

A 2019 Hidden Town escape, finally on PC as of 31 August 2026.

Steam Launch

Dark Dome Studios published The Girl in the Window on Steam on 31 August 2026 (app ID 4700560). It is the same abandoned-house chapter Android players have known since 2019, not a remake with extra wings. This page is the PC-specific sheet: specs, store flags, and how to play without fighting the mouse.

Puzzles: walkthrough. Input: controls. Story: ending when you are ready.

Store facts

  • Developer and publisher: Dark Dome Studios
  • Franchise tag: Dark Dome / Hidden Town
  • Mode: single-player
  • Family Sharing: yes
  • Deck compatibility: Unknown on the Steam store page (not a Verified or Playable badge)
  • Size: 100 MB available space on the listed minimum
  • Price: $2.99 USD on the US store (region-priced, no in-app purchases)
  • Bundle: Dark Dome Collection, nine Hidden Town titles, 15 percent off

The Steam page describes it plainly: Hidden Town is scared, a girl looks out from a house empty twenty years, you play Dan, you solve riddles to leave. You can play Dark Dome escapes in any order; this one still introduces Dan and Mia.

Early reviews

The game arrived with 21 user reviews giving it an 85% Positive rating. That is a small sample by Steam standards but a clean start for a niche horror-puzzle chapter. Mobile had years to accumulate 4.7 stars across 10 million installs; the PC port opened clean. The review page on this wiki is written with both audiences in mind.

System requirements (minimum)

Steam lists a low bar:

  • OS: Windows 7-class (use a supported Windows for a smooth launcher experience)
  • CPU: 1.6 GHz
  • RAM: 1024 MB
  • GPU: integrated (Intel HD or equivalent)
  • Storage: 100 MB
  • Sound: any

If your machine opens a browser, it will open this house. There is no ray tracing preset to argue about.

Languages

The Steam page advertises a large localization set (thirty interface/subtitle languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, and many more). This wiki covers English, French, German, and Spanish as its own site languages. We do not publish Simplified Chinese or Russian wiki pages even though the game may. Play the game in whatever language you bought; use the wiki in one of the four.

What you get on Steam that Android free tier does not

  • No interstitial ads on startup
  • No IAP or Premium upgrade to purchase
  • Mouse and keyboard input (no tap-target scaling)
  • One-time purchase, no subscription

Premium as an IAP is an Android idea. On Steam you buy the game outright. If a secret scene flag exists in your build after the lever, treat it as extras — premium explains the mobile version of that coda.

What you do not get on Steam

  • A new map
  • Multiplayer
  • Redeemable creator codes
  • A battle pass
  • The rest of the Hidden Town catalogue (each chapter is a separate app)

How to start on PC

  1. Buy and install from Steam.
  2. Read Getting Started so you learn the four walls.
  3. Slow the mouse down. Hotspots are mobile-sized.
  4. Keep a notepad for randomized puzzles.
  5. Only open the walkthrough when two chains stall.

Why the port exists

Dark Dome is bringing Hidden Town to Steam as a catalogue, not as a single tentpole. Sister titles (Ghost Case, Nowhere House, Hidden Memories, and others) have their own app IDs. Buying The Girl in the Window does not unlock the town. See Hidden Town before you assume a bundle.

The 21 early reviews are store-age, not quality. Android already proved the room. Use Getting Started the night you install, keep codes nearby for the plant box, and only open the ending after the lever. Count the leaves on your own pots, not on a screenshot from 2020.
