Mia, the Girl in the Window

The figure Hidden Town still sees, twenty years after the house was sealed.

Last updated:

Mia

Mia is the title. Villagers in Hidden Town say a girl looks out from a house abandoned for twenty years. You spend the game on the other side of that rumor. This page is her character sheet. Heavy spoilers sit in the second half. For lock help, stay on codes. For the playable viewpoint, see Dan.

What you see before you know her name

  • A silhouette at the armchair window when the camera allows it
  • A VHS that is not a random tape
  • Photos and a diary that belong to a family, not a stranger
  • Newspaper clippings about a girl, a crime, an unsolved case

The store description refuses to name her in the first paragraph. That is marketing as misdirection. Dark Dome still tells you up front that this chapter introduces Dan and Mia. If you read store pages, you already know both names. The game withholds how they fit until the lever.

Mia as a puzzle object

She is not a boss. You do not fight her. You do not rescue her with a QTE. The window is a location you power with lamps and curtains so you can read glyphs on a wall — symbol lock. The girl is atmosphere until she is family.

That is a mean trick and a kind one. Mean, because players treat her as a haunt to be banished. Kind, because the haunt wanted company.

Ending (spoilers)

Mia is Dan’s sister. She died in the same unsolved murder that emptied the house. She stayed visible. Townsfolk kept reporting a girl in the window because she never stopped standing there. When Dan — also dead, also forgetful — finishes the ritual of the room, he is not freeing a hostage. He is remembering his sister.

The newspaper outside is their photograph. The title of the game is her job description. Full scene notes: ending explained.

Fan comments like to imagine she designed the puzzles to keep her brother busy so he would not wander. The official text is quieter. The house is their unfinished business. The vampire, the garlic, the cross are leftover folklore glued onto a family story. You can enjoy both readings.

Mia in the rest of Hidden Town

She is not a secret fighter in later titles. Ghost Case is the investigation of the crime that created her haunting. Other games in the Hidden Town list follow different residents. If you wanted more Mia specifically, Ghost Case and the premium secret scene are the honest next steps, not a skin shop.

How to write about her without wrecking a friend

If you are sharing this wiki, send Getting Started or the walkthrough, not this page. Mia’s identity is the twist. The window is the trailer image. Let people meet the silhouette first.

When you do discuss her, skip the cheap “it was a ghost all along” shrug. The interesting part is that Hidden Town’s first protagonist was never alive on-screen, and the girl everyone feared was waiting for him. That is the tone the review calls short and sad, and it is why a one-room game still opens a whole series.

Stand at the curtain once after you know. The projection puzzle feels different when you realize whose window you were using as a flashlight.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is Mia an enemy?

No. She is the girl in the window and, after the ending, Dan's sister. She is not a boss fight.

Does Mia appear in other Dark Dome games?

Her case continues in Ghost Case. See Hidden Town for the series map.

Can I miss seeing her?

You can rush locks and still finish. Look at the armchair window. The title is a location.
