The Girl in the Window Android and iOS Versions

The original Hidden Town escape on phones, and how it differs from Steam.

Last updated:

Mobile Versions

Before Steam existed for this title, The Girl in the Window was a phone game. Android launched in 2019 from Dark Dome and grew to 10 million-plus Play Store downloads with a rating around 4.7. iOS arrived much later as a paid App Store puzzle in 2026. This page is the mobile sheet. PC owners should still skim it if they want to know why walkthrough videos look like a finger tapping a CRT.

Gameplay help: Getting Started, controls, walkthrough.

Android (the original)

  • Package: air.com.darkdome.girlinthewindow (Adobe AIR-era id, still in use)
  • Genre listing: puzzle / escape / horror-tinged story
  • Ads on the free build, especially in front of hints
  • Premium in-app: no ads, free hints, secret scene
  • Age rating varies by country (Play Store often 16+ with horror warnings)

What’s-new text on Play has sometimes sat on “First version” even after years. The latest APK we tracked is 1.2.98 around 1–4 August 2026. Do not wait for a season 2 inside this listing. The house is complete. Version table: patch notes.

iOS

  • Seller: Dark Dome Studios SAC
  • Paid app (price around a couple of US dollars, region dependent)
  • iPhone-first; macOS not fully verified in the listing we checked
  • Requires iOS 12 or later
  • Family Sharing supported
  • Version notes in 2026 include improved Chinese language support (the game’s language pack, not this wiki)
  • Age 13+ in the US listing with infrequent cartoon violence and horror themes

iOS is not the old free-plus-Premium Android split. You pay once at the store.

Shared with Steam

If a friend finished Android in 2020, they already saw the twist. Buying iOS or Steam is convenience, not a new chapter. The review says that plainly.

Hints versus this wiki

Mobile official hints are designed for people who refuse walkthroughs. They cost ads on free Android. This wiki is the other path: methods without a number overlay. Use official hints if you want to stay inside the client. Use codes if you want the notebook explained in sentences.

Performance and size

The APK/IPA is small by 2026 standards (tens of megabytes). Old phones that still run the listed OS versions can play it. The art is 2D; the bottleneck is your patience, not GPU fill rate.

Should you move to Steam?

Move if you want a mouse, a bigger pinboard, and no interstitial ads. Stay if you like tapping on a commute. Puzzle difficulty does not drop on PC. The tier list still puts the vampire and the curtain-light padlock on top.

Store links stay on the official links hub. Studio news stays on Dark Dome’s site and socials. This wiki will not paste every store screenshot; we host local images of the room instead.

If your phone build ever diverges from the Steam lever ending, that would be news on the updates hub. Until then, assume one house, three storefronts.

A practical install order if you own none of them: Android if you want to try the free layer first, iOS if you live on iPhone and prefer a paid app without hunting an IAP, Steam if you want the controls to be a mouse. The walkthrough and vampire safe articles do not care which shop took your money. They care whether you lifted the clippings on your pinboard.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is Android still the main version?

It is the largest audience. Steam and iOS are 2026 storefronts for the same chapter.

Do I need Premium on a phone?

Only for ads, hints, and the secret scene on Android. Read premium.

Can I transfer a save to Steam?

No cloud-handoff is advertised. Treat each storefront as its own file. Codes would re-roll anyway.
